Today is the last day of the semester. I am sitting in Jordan’s classroom and I am supposed to be grading, but I’m too burnt out and antsy for our winter break.

This semester was interesting as halfway through I was promoted to Social Studies teacher, which has been an exciting challenge for me. There were some days I cried in the car on the way home because teaching is hard, and other days that I couldn’t stop talking about how great my class went. Almost none of the students I worked with before were in my classes, so I had to learn about 60 new names (and I did it!). Next semester I will have some new classes and new names to learn, inshallah, I will learn them!

I almost have my resident visa finished. This week the school took my passport, along with some others, to have the visa put in it. Today, the day many people are flying out, our passports were returned. Without any visa. Such is life abroad!

Tomorrow night, Jordan and I depart for over three weeks in Europe. We are going from Sofia, Bulgaria -> Skopje, Macedonia -> Budapest, Hungary -> Warsaw, Poland -> Krakow, Poland -> Wroclaw, Poland -> Bucharest, Romania. Five countries, five languages, and five currencies.

I will be sure to make time to post throughout our trip. With how much time we have, plenty of it will be spent relaxing and working in cafes.

Until then, enjoy some pictures from a camping trip we took with our friends Paige and David (and some hard partying InterNations folks) over National Day weekend!
